Super Retail Group (SRG) logo
Congratulations on being invited to take part in Super Retail Group’s Assessment for Development Centre.

Davidson has been engaged by SRG to manage this important part of your experience at SRG.

Please take the time to read the information below which will prepare you for the assessment process.

What is an Assessment for Development Centre (ADC)?

An Assessment for Development Centre (ADC) is a series of assessments carried out using techniques like simulation, psychometric assessments and exercises to understand leadership capability, performance and potential.

While participating in the assessment for development centre, it is important that you imagine yourself in the situation as presented in the context of the exercise, and not as it would occur in your day-to-day experience.

Key intended outcomes

SRG’s main goal for those going through the ADC is to:

Super Retail Group (SGR) various brands

For you to gain useful insights

ADC for Selection and Professional Development

Going through an ADC involves testing your leadership skills under pressure, in various scenarios. You’ll receive a comprehensive Development Report and the opportunity to have a debrief on your results with an experienced coach. This session with offer valuable insights into your strengths and areas for growth, providing you with the knowledge to make informed decisions moving forward.

Assessment Centres are often used for selection purposes, especially for senior roles. Taking part in an ADC provides you with a safe environment to learn and prepare for the future.

For us to understand your development needs

ADC for Selection

From an organisational perspective, this process aids in identifying your strengths relevant to the role, facilitating a successful onboarding experience, and determining how we, at Super Retail Group, can best support you in your new position and set you up for success.

ADC for Professional Development

This process enables us to gain deep insights into your individual and collect development needs. The information we get from the assessment helps us find better ways to support you and make smarter choices about how we invest in your development.

What will you be doing?

During the 3 hour ADC, you will participate in two exercises. These exercises will build on information and instructions that you will be provided during the ADC.

The exercise(s) that you will participate in are set in the context of a completely
fictitious organisation and are in no way representative of Super Retail Groups financials, organisational structure or organisation as a whole. Any similarities with existing companies are purely coincidental. This approach places all participants in the same situation and therefore gives everyone an equal chance in demonstrating their key strengths. The aim of the exercises is not to measure experience, but to evaluate your performance when presented with new situations and unfamiliar information. The scenarios may be unfamiliar, especially where you may have more scope for determining your own actions and have more responsibility than you are used to.

Your role in the Assessment for Development Centre

Your role will be to analyse the data provided during the exercises within a certain time frame and to formulate a suitable solution. You are expected to respond to the situations you are faced as effectively and as efficiently as possible. The actions and solutions you propose will subsequently be compared against key criteria selected for the role. It will also provide key insights into your strengths and development areas.

Depending on the type of exercise, you may be asked to take a specific role. Remember the exercises do not require any specific technical knowledge. This gives every participant an equal opportunity to display the added value that they would bring to the Super Retail Team.

What happens after the ADC?
