The Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) is a key economic development agency working in partnership with our primary industries, regional stakeholders, and across all levels of government to advance the prosperity and sustainability of South Australia’s primary industries and regional communities. Reporting to the Director People and Culture, the Principal Advisor IR & ER will guide, coach and advise senior and executive leaders in the management of complex IR/ER matters and cases, including overseeing workplace investigations and processes and representing PIRSA at the South Australian Employment Tribunal and during enterprise bargaining. You will implement a range of initiatives to manage and deliver IR & ER services across PIRSA that support the achievement of business objectives. Essential to this role is building and managing relationships with key stakeholders to proactively enhance workplace culture and mitigate industrial risks.

Working with the broader People and Culture team, you will develop the IR and ER capability of the organisation, and be a trusted advisor within the Agency. To be considered for this role, you will have a proven track record in managing industrial and employee relations within large, complex environments, including experience in preventative management. You will have demonstrated understanding of people and culture processes within government environments, as well as experience in policy development. You will be great at fostering relationships with employees, senior leaders and the executive, and influencing within a complex stakeholder environment. You will be a strong believer in the value great industrial and employee relations can deliver to the business and be passionate about the critical work you do.
